Some stories begin in the most unexpected places. Mine began in a farmhouse kitchen in the early 1990s, stirring a pot of soap as part of a homeschool lesson inspired by Little House on the Prairie. I had no idea that a simple pioneer craft would spark a lifelong passion — or that it would one day become Willow Creek Soap Co.

From that very first batch, I was hooked. The alchemy of oils transforming into something that could cleanse, nourish, and delight felt like magic. I kept making soap — for our home, for friends, for anyone who would take a bar. By 1994, after years of refining my recipe and falling deeper in love with the craft, I took a leap of faith and set up a table at the Mankato Farmers Market. That humble beginning is where Willow Creek Soap truly came to life.

More than 30 years later, every bar is still made by hand — the same way, with the same care, and with the same belief that what you put on your skin matters. Our soaps are crafted from all vegetable oils: olive, coconut, and soy. They lather richly, feel gentle, and leave your skin naturally moisturized — never stripped or dried out.

Over the decades, Willow Creek Soap has grown far beyond that first farmers market table. You'll find our soaps in local shops, salons, natural food stores, and apple orchards across the region. They've traveled to customers across the country and around the world. And yet, every Saturday at the Mankato Farmers Market, we're still right where it all started — because that connection to community is something we never want to lose.
